Working on a 7 segment display
I just started creating an upcoming coding competition element. The 7 segment display is very common in lots of areas that people are familiar with. Digital clocks, score boards etc. are often taken for granted in their use and functionality. This is where we can engage young minds in learning to mimic their functionality with code. I’m always looking for a cheap way to create physical coding devices.
After finding a 7 segment template online. I printed it out and started finding cardboard pieces around the house. I glued the template to a piece of cardboard and cut out the shapes using an exacto knife.
I spray painted the cut cardboard pieces black and placed in the LED strips. I saudered wired to the LED strips and tested each section.
For this project, I’ll use the Arduino nano. I wired everything to a breadboard and tested the final product. All lights are working.
I’m learning to use mosfets in this circuit build , so I’ll need to buy some before building the Arduino code to run this.
Using some old picture frame glass, I sprayed the glass with “frost” spray paint.
More to come soon!
Here’s my progress so far…
